Here we go again boys. Just got in stand 1/2 hr ago. Pretty cold on a long walk back in here. If you remember the notes from oct, it was flooded bad, that is all gone. Water level must be down 2 1/2 feet, it’s pretty much back to normal. Hunting this far back in (1 1/2 to 2 miles) in cold causes its own challenges, more gear, goal is to stay warm and dry

This is the same batch of woods from oct that was at least 18 “ under water. I call this the wallow woods

Feet are cold I will get down soon and try tomorrow. I’m wearing thin waders right now and will switch out for hip boots tomorrow. We have a semi ice condition which makes it hard to walk. I don’t think we have ever shot one in winter in this area but I’m not crossing another swamp to get to my favorite winter spot. Just too hard to do

I got down a few minutes early and headed out. Picked up my stashed stand and climbing sticks from Oct and carried them out. Saw and heard nothing. Will try in the morning and it’s gonna be a cold one

Just had a swamp fox walk right to me. You don’t see that everyday down here

9:48. All is quiet , no sightings, haven’t heard any in the marsh either. Little windy from the west, cold. Had a bald eagle land in a tree about 80 yds away, might be a nest there

Love reading this Bill. Its been too cold to go outside here and the ground has been covered with snow and ice for a few days now. Hope the sun warms you a little.

Hello art, starting to warm slightly, I’m facing sw and sun is coming around.
Here’s a shot to the west along the frag. Hoping something comes from that direction

I’m probably going to cut this hunt short, was going to hunt tomorrow but I’m coming down with a cold. I have 40 lbs of gear back here and quite a ways to get it out. I will take the time to post pics on my way out so you guys can see what the terrain is like

Big blocks of woods(dry) are rare down here. Jody M posted up here in October. He was using his whitetail senses which don’t work on sikas. Finally got him to move for the last evening sit and he saw a hind ( no shot)

Thanks for looking guys. Glad to post these hunts hoping to inspire Pa guys to get down there and dig in on a hunt that is close, cheap, cool as heck. All you have to do is go and be a little tough. I am home as I came down with a cold or some kind of bug or I would have hunted last night and today. I did do some short haul scouting yesterday before I left and found a spot not more then 150 yds from the road. I will try that spot next time I’m down there.
