McCall area questions

My son is moving to McCall this spring. I have two questions regarding archery elk hunting. 1- Are there over the counter elk tags in this area?, and 2- Would this be a good to fair area to hunt elk? I live in NM and will find out in April if I drew anything, and was hoping to learn if McCall vicinity could be a viable option. Thanks.

1. Yes OTC. 2. Yes good to very good area for Elk. Can be steep and deep. Once your son learns the area and works his way into some bowhunting circles of friends he should be able to get into Elk.
