New Thread because original one has gotten way too long and has kind of gone "off the rails" to some degree. Hopefully, Thornton and HFW can play in the sand box together?

Included is Joe Rogan Experience #1439 YouTube Podcast from 3/10/20. Joe had one of the worlds foremost Infectious Disease “Medical Detective” experts on his show to talk about Corona Virus, CWD and Lyme Disease.

This guy doesn’t use scare tactics but has enough research experience and confidence in what he knows to deliver his knowledge and info. as straight talk and isn’t about to sugar coat any of the info. or his opinions. I have listened to it all and have broken it down by the sections noted above for the benefit of others if they are only interested in hearing what he has to say about Corona, CWD or Lyme per the following:

Corona Virus: Start-21:00; 31:45-1:14; 1:30-Finish

CWD: 21:00-31:45

Fecal Transplants (Interesting topic didn’t know such a thing existed?): 1:14-1:15

Lyme Disease: 1:15-1:30 (interesting case example on how easily ticks spread from Wisconsin to Minnesota and throughout the NE. Also, very glad we live in a state where controlled burns are the norm). Thankful I hunt in the Flint Hills!

In a nut shell during these times: Eat healthy, get sleep/rest, if over-weight start losing and control your blood pressure (if you have issues with that). In the future we as a country need to stockpile medical equip. and supplies to help with future outbreaks, spend more $$$ on medical/vaccine research and keep researching and planning even when the all clear is eventually given!

Interesting quote this expert made. “Right now, with no known vaccine...controlling this virus is like trying to control the wind!” Take care all!

I could be mistaken but I think we have learned a lot and captured more critical data since 3/10?

Yes...but he gave us an honest accurate preview of what to expect back when no one had a real clue or wanted to face the reality of what we were in for?

I do not think we will know the true history of this Panicdemic for at least ten years. All we can do now is be hygenic and self aware and hope the economy can recover 30 million plus unemployed and us small business owners are still not counted.

I posted a few things on the other Covid thread. Basically Frank has no clue what is going on in this area and relies on family members, acquaintances, and friends involved in medicine. When that holds no water, he starts randomly grabbing big names out of the air of doctors he supposedly has daily afternoon tea with. When that doesn't work, he boasts he can call an ortho surgeon that did a surgery on some famous football player. After that fizzles out, he starts slandering and jabbing at virtually anything he can think of, including my deceased family members. After I suggest we knock each other's teeth out over coffee and call his wife elderly he reverts to passive aggressive behavior relying on his old age but still saying he could take me. Usually there's a pause after that and he goes and stews about it in his turkey blind and starts machine gunning PMs back at me to the point I simply screenshot them, and don't bother to read them. Then, he gets back on the main forum and directs subtle jabs in my direction regarding just about everything, in his semi-polite, usual manner of passive aggressiveness.

Jason,

Here is my recollection...

Sometime back I disagreed with you on the forum about something I can't even recall. I received a PM asking me who did I think I was and then threatening that I better leave you alone. Yes, I responded by calling you a punk.

When that threat did not work, you took another approach of asking on the forum if my employer knew what I did on the clock.

After that did not work, you brought up your LEO friend in an attempt to intimidate me.

No one ever slandered or threatened you. Or said anything bad about a deceased family member. OTH, you again just admitted for a fourth time to insulting a lady. I said you were classless, and your post proves it.

I am still not afraid to express disagreement with you or anyone else.

Do you think this crisis is still a political ploy and the virus was created as a weapon in China?

I never boasted about anything. I relayed facts. Someone my age and career is going to have contacts. Why would I lie about it?

Dang...ya'll need to calm down....go sit in the tree or something.

01-May-20
Calhoun,

Very calm here watching 8 different deer on our property. Beautiful sunset!

I am worried for Jason. I will ask him to show where I said I have daily afternoon tea with anyone. I don't drink tea or coffee.

Never did he invite me to knock each other's teeth out. He did threaten to do harm to me and I said he wasn't capable of it. I also told him his threats to others would go unheeded now that they knew he was full of it.

Obviously he reads the PMs. I killed a turkey in my blind last Saturday, never thought of Jason. My wife and lab were at the farm with me, I was having too much fun to think about this.

I teach at a community college that has a RN program. Yes, I have contacts. Jason may be right that this virus is nothing, I have not found anyone else I know with medical training and experience that has shared his same assessment. I know these folks, I don't know Jason. Based just on his temperament observed here, I am inclined to believe what those feel that I do know.

Jason is correct about one thing, I have zero medical knowledge above first aid/CPR training. My gut tells me from what I have learned from others that we are a long ways off from defeating this. As we loosen activities back up I will not be surprised to see a resurgence, especially come fall. Also agree we cannot keep the economy closed forever.

This is a disagreement. Many folks in medicine disagree with Jason as well. I don't think he can accept that.

I said I screenshot YOUR threats you dumbass so there would be a record. You're a manipulative, POS liar that pretends to be a nice person when you're quite the opposite. I'll say the same things to your face as I'll say online.

01-May-20
Please post my threats Jason, and all of your messages along with it, including the one where you knocked some kid out in high school.

Your further attempts at threatening me are not working, please calm down.

More horse shit from our media screaming doom and gloom to the point of mass hysteria, and border line socialism as a end result, all be it planed or not planed.

Chief- please enlighten us as to why you think medical doctors/epidemiologists are wrong about a possible fall resurgence.

From: Chief
02-May-20
KSflatlander,,I think it will resurge, just like the flu, the colds, pneumonia, and other lung related disease do every year when the weather turns colder. I neither implied or said the doctors were wrong. I implied the mass hysteria being promoted by the media, especially when the flu season is 6 months away. "More horse shit from our media screaming doom and gloom to the point of mass hysteria, and border line socialism as a end result, all be it planed or not planed". Either way we have 30 million out of work because of it, and the media is beating on the future hysteria drum, and it ain't even hear yet. Be smart and follow the rules, and don't lick any door knobs. Oh, and who knows if all these numbers and deaths reported are actually fact or hype. Lyon county I think has 245+ confirmed with covid, Newmans hospital has had 12 patients, and one death, and that one, well who knows if that is what the cause of death was. I DO NOT TRUST THE MEDIA. Not one little bit. Sensationalism is the name of the media game. I had been interviewed many times on my job as to what happened with accidents, when I read the paper report on it, it would be half right and half hype to sell more papers.

Good old cheery, Chief, blaming innate unhappiness on everybody out there besides himself.

What a bitter life. Hab, Thorton, Quinn, geez, everybody else, at least sometimes have something positive and everything's not a rant.

OK, now you go ahead and lecture me on the media some more, please. I need the education since I have no experience in it.

03-May-20
Must be tough typing with those broken elbows from patting yourself on the back all the time writer.

03-May-20
Here's something positive. I don't know if you can see them, but I have two toms 150 yards away gobbling and strutting at my decoys. Will not come in but respond to my calling. Beautiful!

And my friend just shot a bearded hen. Doesn't get much better, great way to practice social isolation, eh?

Chief- so you think it’s bad that the media talks to doctors and report what they think about what may happen in the future? Where do you get your news?

03-May-20
Four toms, hen in the spread went to them. Strutting and gobbling like crazy. Thunder, light drizzle and they are going nuts.

39, all over with a shotgun, but too far for me with bow. Two toms, three Jake's and a hen I watched get bred all came close, but no cigar. The boys ignored my decoys!

Geeze, Mikey. I did not intend for you to take this so personal. We all know you were a outdoor journalist, and I am sure thousands, enjoyed your articles. Still, even though you think I am innately unhappy, I'm empathetic enough, as I said in a pm to you,

"Take care, and prayers for your family member. I don't remember just what it was, but prayers anyway".

I'll try to do better to meet your criteria on what a happy person should say.

I love you man!

Dale, that made my day. Thanks.

I covered a lot of stuff not “outdoors.” At lay-off, I had three of the four top stories for the year...none were hunting and fishing.(Ok, if you want to rant about age and pay discrimination these days...go ahead.)

OK, WHY AM I GETTING SO stupid'er(if there is such a word) AS MY AGE PROGRESSES? IT SHOULD BE THE OTHER WAY AROUND, but hell no everybody tells me to straighten up, and damn it i haven't had raise of any kind in 28 years. discriminating bastards.

Writer, I think you are a good man who shows compassion and patience... even in difficult situations. I don't know much of your written work but I imagine I would like it. I'm quick to express a dislike for media the same as others above have expressed. To me "media" is a reference to the big guys though. I've dealt with many sports reporters and local journalists who were nothing but professional and outstanding to work with. As soon as the big media starts to tell me how to feel; I should be angry, I should be scared, I should not like someone or something, I should believe someone is guilty without evidence, etc... I walk away. It seems to me that the majority of the network news companies are trying to pass opinion pieces as factual news. The few things I do know facts about in the news have been reported with a twist or spin to influence the customer. I have a huge respect for you due to how you conduct yourself on this forum. If I ever complain about the "media" I certainly aren't lumping you or other journalists like you into that complaint... I just don't the differentiated wording to separate you from the networks.

I few years back i had the good fortune to speak at length with Writer on the phone, he was doing an article on license increases at the time and wanted a NR perspective. You couldn't speak with nicer gentlemen, and he even quoted me accurately! I am lucky to have spent a bunch if time in KS and the most impressive thing about the state has been the people that I have met.

Well said Catscratch! As in most situations and careers, there are those that do the job well, Mike is definitely one of the best IMO. It's really sad the majority of the media outlets in the USA have allowed their political beliefs to determine their content and programming.

Big main stream media is acting like a jilted teenage girl, AND our "leader" is acting out the bully part constantly taunting and teasing them.
