20' to the right of that picture is a 7 acre, one third of a mile long food plot. It was established in 2007. The mineral lick was placed where the deer frequently entered that plot after the first year. It has remained very active since.
I have ten cameras running but I like a low impact approach so I do not pull cards on the others too often. Four acres is ladino clover, covered with 4 cameras and in one week I had over 2500 combined pictures...deer, turkeys, coyotes, birds etc. That was the only day time fawn picture and why I chose it.
Calm down number "12" I can assure you I am not Sito. He is only 1/3 the man I am on a good day. Also, having been on this site for more than 10 years and "observing" Sito's behavior I feel more than confidant that he can speak for himself and 50% of the time make sense. So back to the streets to collect more intel there is a perpetrator out there unlawfully using "quotes" and :^)(smiles).........correct me if I am wrong but doesn't he make this smiley face? ;^)......see the difference grasshopper its a wink.
Back to topic......Frank did you not spent at least 2 months of your life educating us about Covid-19 and the precautions we should take to stop the spread? Because the experts that knew way more than you did were telling us what to do. Can that not be applied to CWD? The experts tell us not to have "communal" feeding spots as it adds to the spread of the disease. Just wondering why you don't listen to "those" experts;^)?
Don't think I ever lectured anyone as to what they should do, but did encourage us, and continue to do so, to learn based on factual information.
With regards to CWD, as stated previously deer use cattle licks, which surround my property. Normal deer behavior places them in contact as much as licks do. As with my belief that we need to re-open the country, the benefits of habitat management including licks out-weigh the costs IMO. And I leave room for the possibility I am wrong, but we seem to have more knowledge of COVID than we do CWD. I will continue to re-evaluate as more information becomes available and will change my practices when that information causes an "adjustment' to the equation. Discussions like we have here help me gather new information, I like to think I am open-minded about learning. Deer also use natural licks, and probably that cannot be easily prevented. No cases of CWD have been found in my county, which is information you might not have.
You have been here 10 years? Other than asking about Redneck blinds on the BGF I have only read posts where you belittle others. You have me at a disadvantage, please share your profession. It is not LE is it?
Thanks. These debates do get tiresome, eh? Baiting is not something I should do as I have access to good properties and am mobile. I am not against baiting in all situations for others though. Doing what is right for the wildlife and abiding at a minimum by what is legal, then IMO each individual has to make the call for themselves. For example, a young person, pre-driver's license age with no family or friends who hunt, who lives on a small parcel surrounded by properties like mine that do extensive habitat management, or surrounded by leased properties, I am OK with them baiting and getting some experience outside of the electronic gizmos they are normally glued to. But that is just me and I accept others can disagree. And I assume everyone is bigger and tougher so I am not meeting anyone outside;-) Seems we agree on baiting practices and licks as well, so we don't have to be concerned about "dancing" with each other, LOL.
And that's the normal wink I use, not borrowing from anyone!
