I’ve had to pull a few of my “old” Loc-On stands. Having to replace some chains. Is the typical chain available at Lowes or Home Depot sufficient or do I need to get a chain with some kind of rating for load-bearing? They’ve been out of business a long time I think but their light weight “Spirit” hang-ons are good stands.

First of all you want a welded chain, not a spiral chain. Chains are rated by a grade number...grade 30 is about the lowest all the way up to 120. Google "chain grade and specs" and you'll find out more than you want to know, including each chain's working load specs. Then when you go to the hardware store you'll have a pretty good idea what you want to buy.
