It is after 9am and guys are setting up back at Camp WHACK-A-DOE
Smoke and I are setting up a blind on one of the farms for one of our hunters.
Brushing it in.............
2pm Big tent is up and folks are getting registered...............
And taking the proficiency test................
Can you pass that test? Maybe we should have one too. LOL.
Shoulder is feeling good Art- no problem! : )
Bob gave us some of his Cream of Chicken of the Woods soup...................mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!! : )
We set a new record with 50 hunters registered today. We had 6 hunters go out tonight and 2 shot deer. The hunt does not officially start til tomorrow, so they will not count for the Big Momma award. One was recovered by Andy Kaz and the other one we tracked for a long distance and then spotted her so we backed out and will look in the morning. Hopefully we’ll find her not far from where she was last seen. She was shot by one of the new hunters.
First time we’ve ever gotten one on Wed!
Just watched an amazing sunrise from 20’ up...............GOD’S GIFT TO BOWHUNTERS!
No deer moving here yet, but Bowjo sees some............
Thanks Brian! Nothing moving here, but got reports of 2 deer down.................(on other properties)
Jen Sager and Art Reid (Reid15) connected this morning. Good job folks!
Curtis (Yodermeister) Yoder just shot a beatiful carp. He has the lead for the VERMINATOR award!!
Congrats to all the successful hunters so far....My elk hunting trip got screwed I shoulda joined this motley crew.
Thanks Tom, sorry to hear that! You should come out and join us one year!
We have 2 donated to HSH so far......................
Back in stands by 4. I decided to rock the shorts, knee high boot socks and snake boots. I’m making a fashion statement! ;-)
Ok I'm not there. But not letting snake bite do me up with a foot shot. Resting mey feetsies high up on a mtn.
Sure hope all the stars align and Iget to see you all Saturday.
LOL! I told the guys you And Julie might be coming and they said “GREAT!”
Hope you have a safe trip home and we get to hear some ELK stories(in person! ;-)
OK- last hour of shooting light- gotta get serious! : )
What’s the good word Rut. Any red arrows tonite??
YES! 3 (more) deer on the board and one hit(and jumped) gonna let her go til morning.
Brian Fidldler got one, Chris Orwig got one and shot another and......................
.....................the highlight of the day was the WHITMORE sisters shooting deer on the same day(Amy on left and Jen on right) WAY TO GO GIRLS!
Wtg girls, missing the fun. Good luck to all, Enjoy!
Alright. This is getting good.
Curtis Dan and I are set up in a patch of woods about 80y wide. We have a triangle set up so it will be very hard for a deer to come thru these woods withOUT taking an arrow! ;-)
Can you see the deer trail 20y in front of me?
Darryl just sent me this pic
And this one....................NOT what you want to see when you’re hunting does! : (
Darryl’s covered up in small bucks today! : (
Still nothing moving here, but no white Oak acorns falling. Usually they start dropping here and we see deer feeding on them. This year the oaks don’t seem to have any mast.(at least on this property)
Chris Orwig found his second deer from last night and had it in the cooler by 8am. Good job Chris!
The reason he didnt find it last night is because he was probably looking down, when its obvious from snake bites pitcher he should have been looking up. Now snake bite don't change the pic. :)
Well it is half way thru our hunt. We now have 9 deer shot and 6 donated to HSH!
The committee set a goal of 20 deer in 2020...................we are only 1 deer behind schedule! ;-)
We had a new leader on The Big Momma trophy brought in this morning.................
Snake bite, ask if anyone wants any vacuum packed Pa corn feed black bear meat. I need to make room in the freezer for this up coming fall. Only so much julie and I can eat in one year.
I started last winter with 3 deer , some elk and a bear. If anyone's that's at the 5c hunt want's any, just post of pm me. Ed
Ps, looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
Keep it up. Is that a new record?
Ed- the guys say bring as much as you can- we’ll spread the wealth! Thanks!
No Art- record is 13. We’re gonna break it though!
Way to go folks, and congratulations to all who’ve connected! This is a great event, and looking forward to following along! Good luck and shoot straight....I’m thinking tomorrow that records gonna get shattered! :)
Sorry folks, changed locations on the farm- set up in the corn and could not get cell reception.
Dan and I finally saw a deer..................I was the closest to it- unfortunately I did not have a 166y pin! ;-)
Thought tonight would be a good number coming back to camp but surprisingly we are stuck at 9.
So we have to have a GREAT last day to hit our goal!(20)
Thanks Josh! Hoping to break the record AND reach our goal! : )
Love following your guys hunt every year, goin out myself tommrow morning in 2b, good luck guys hope you beat your record.
Good luck guys and gals. Shoot em all!!! Settled here down in bucks county
Good luck. At least get to 14
Shoot straight folks, or at least get close first. LOL.
THANKS Folks!
Dan Zerbe just had a little buck walk by.
Darryl just put a Lumanock thru one! ;-)
Good luck everyone. Be safe.
Thanks Brian!
Slow here this morning again. No acorns in trees or on the ground.
VERY slow morning! Darryl was the only one to bring one in. Gotta get busy tonight if we wanna break the record!
We’re up to 7 donated to HSH.
Looking for your final report in the morning.
Thanks to everyone who helped to put together another great event!
I hope to see you all again next year!
Thanks for participating Art!
Well, the last day was tough but we managed to tie the record. 13 deer taken. We had 2 that were not brought back to camp for consideration for the Big Momma award and 8 of 13 were donated to HSH.
We also broke a record for attendance with 82 registered hunters for all or part of the 3 days. And the “efficiency” we’ll call it was way up this year- only a couple misses and 1 deer not recovered.(Actually it was found 2 days later)
A BIG THANKS to everyone who participated and helped with set up and (hopefully) clean up! ;-)
Oh, and Congrats to Jeff Wise who won the BIG MOMMA Award, Andy Kaz for heaviest deer donated and Art Reid for 3rd (raffle drawing of those who donated)
And Curtis Yoder won the VERMINATOR Award.
All right. Are you ready to do it again in 2 weeks Perry?
OF COURSE Art! I’ll be out there for the UBP 2D Trad Hunt this year.................Dan and I were just talking about that while he was packing up! : )
Good to see you ended up tying the record. Looking forward to next year!
