Can you guess age by the body alone?

Just curious what age y'all think this buck is, by only looking at his body?
An 8 yr old muscled up neck doe. Either that or he is so old his tarsal glands is disappearing.
5+, body length, girth, leg muscle development, and what the heck happened to his tarsal?
I don't see a set of beans
It's a buck, no other guesses?
I'll play. I say 5yrs old
Well since it’s not a Canadian doe then I’m going old. It might be the way he’s standing but everything looks old except his neck...kinda small for a mature between 5 and 7. I’m going post mature...8+
I forgot to transfer the original pic to my phone, but I'll post it tonight.
Keep guessing
absolutely high fence you can tell by the ears.
Dont look like he is rutting, neck not swollen hasn't pissed on his tarsal glands yet. i don't think that old, his weight looks to be in hind end still. I would guess 3.5 maybe or younger?? Or else he is ancient and on his way down hill! Shawn
Not great at this as looking at length of nose is one factor for me, but might as well. Back is bowed and brisket full. 5 or 6 years.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and point out you can't always judge a buck by his body. Maybe he's a dink judging by Kyle not shooting him. And, I've seen some pretty muscled up young bucks before.- 2.5 years old.
Lol he’s good with pics...I think it’s photo shop. Hips look mature. Waist through to the brisket looks like a saggy horse. Then the neck looks like a 2 yr old. Even the neck is a different color...I think it’s a neck from a different deer put on this deer right where it meets the brisket....now give me my money.
I’m guessing a 7.5 yr old doe that identifies as a buck. Note the shorter hair “Butchy” look. There’s just a tinge of a Rainbow Pride flag reflecting on it’s side, too....You have to look really close, though.
I don't cheat, you should know that by now if you know anything about me.
It's really a pony Troy
J can't age a deer worth a damn anyway, why in the hell would I think I could with a partial pic! It is goofy looking with those lumps, narrow shoulders, and well defined throat patch.
If I had only been offered the pic I offered you, I'd have said 5+yrs
Holy crap...sure glad I get to see the head and headgear before I shoot. Yearling....no I say 4 on this next one.
Oof!! I believe I whiffed that one.
Don’t know about the age, but I have to say. That picture is what I only try to see once I’ve decided I will take a shot if given the opportunity...
Only way I can keep my composure!!!!??????????
No more guesses on #2 here? I'll post the rest of the pic tonight
Lets give it the college try -- 3.5!
So I win in deer number 1?? Shawn
I actually won on "one" Scoob
Yeah I would have to say Thornton won the first....Scoob you mentioned you thought it was young then said it could be old. Thornton just came out with 2. I still think he’s old...just one of them unique deer that at 2 yrs old his neck, face and horns quit aging.
Not sure there are any winners, more art than science?
It's the 6pt, and neighbor says he's at least 8
Kyle, I'm going to say that first deer is older, but just don't have the genes. Mommy and daddy must of swam in the same gene pool!
Not going to disagree Thane, they may have chosen the pond over the pool
How about this...guess how many points the deer has for the last one
No.
I need to see the entire deer and hope for several angles. To be honest, I do better by recognizing the antlers from a particular deer that I've been watching for years. Then I know for sure. It's pretty easy to recognize 1 1/2, 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 year old bucks. After that, not so much.
If you get QDMA magazine they have a regular feature of guess the age. I'm pretty consistent with the "professionals" on my guess, but it's still a guess.
100% Jim, many more factors than body shape/size. Just thought it would be interesting to see reactions based on what "we know".
Yeah I agree with Cracken.
Just because you're trying hard to throw us for a loop so far, I'll say 13 points!
Sorry James, but I like that fact that you tried!
Seems I'm more familiar with young bucks. I'll blame it on the NR shooting all the big ones :)
