Thanksgiving in the stand in 5C, started out as a balmy 69 degrees, but I had a solid west wind in my favor. Snuck in and settled in around 1. Sun shining, gusts of warm wind, on Thanksgiving. But season is open and does have been very elusive this year. This is an ongoing tradition when the season is open on this holiday I make sure I am out. Around 4:30 this big doe with 2 yearlings in tow came in and I stopped her at 29 yards, down hill and floated a perfect shot broadside. She ran about 75 yards and I lost site of her. There is something primal about knocking one down on Thanksgiving... Big doe, took a while to drag her out in 5C Montgomery County. It was worth it to tell the in-laws to keep a plate heated, I was going to be late....
