Last week I spotted this buck bedded on the side of a blown out sand hill and managed to stalk in on him. He was below me about 8ft when I shot him hitting him in the back just right of center behind his shoulder. He ran about 350 yrds then laid down and was dead about 45 min later. Man was I lucky.
I just got back from my hunt but my buck quit bleeding after a pretty good 500yd bright red blood trail, I looked for 3 days but nada. I took a steep uphill shot and probably only got one lung and the arrow broke at the fletching when he went by a tree so he still had the fletching inside him, I figure it had to be stuck at the top of the scapula in order to break the arrow. This is the second time the steep uphill shot screwed me, exact same results, you would think I would have learned...... more forward and low! I did have an awesome hunt, saw bucks every day and more turkeys and elk than you could shake a stick at! The best part was I didn't see another person for 10 days
