5 inches of snow here in Flagstaff today. Lets keep these storms coming! Might be a big one coming this weekend. Keeping fingers crossed!
Most of the state is in a severe drought right correct?
correct. However this storm moving thru looks as if it will be dropping lots of moisture. Predicted to last thru next weekend.
Terry
Jaeger, yes you're correct. It has been ongoing for a number of years.
6” so far at the house....supposed to snow all day today and tomorrow and partly on Tuesday. Hopefully we get a couple feet!
So far Monday evening, I have had 14", had to hose off the sat dish to get internet back.
Terry

Thanks for the updates. Any of you northern AZ boys have pics to share?
Thats good to see. Hopefully we'll get a robust monsoon this year.
Jan total 2.96 plus 28 inches of snow.

Late to the party but here’s our place in Prescott. Just shy of two feet.
Fast moving storm. Only 2 inches in Flagstaff tonight. Better then nothing!
A LOT more than predicted on this storm in the White Mountains! Over 8” at my place
Very nice BOHNTR!....Ended up with 4.5 inches total here in east Flagstaff.
Up to 11” now at my place. Parking lot photo at church
Nice! Lets hope the storm coming tomorrow/Tuesday drops more!
I only got 2 inches.
Terry
Another 4-5" today......doesn't look like anymore storms for a couple weeks now. Still a foot on the ground where I'm at. We're still a long ways from being out of our drought......but a heck of a lot better shape than were were a month ago.
Snowing pretty steady right now....already an additional 2”.....not sure where this little storm came from.
.56 for Feb. 3.5 total for the year. Plus 32 inches of snow, most of which is not turned into moisture measured by my rain gauge.
Terry
About 8-9 inches from this current storm here in Flagstaff. Pretty nice blanket on the ground!
Only 4” or so here in the White Mtns.....but it’s supposed to snow most of the day and into the night so we’ll see how much we end up with

Ended up with just short of a foot here. Great late season storm!
I got a total of 8 inches, 2 inches that melted off and then another 6. The rain gauge said that the 2 inches of snow yielded .41 inches of moisture, so total would be about 1.6 inches.
Terry
Close to a foot on the ground here in Forest Lakes last night.
Another 4 inches this morning in Flagstaff. One week total close to 20 inches! Been a very active early March. Let’s hope for more!
I just got 4 more inches. Make that 6 inches as the snow has been falling off and on most of Tuesday.
Terry
Got 5” at the house yesterday......supposed to rain early next week. Sure hope so
Got a little snow that melted off and now after dark it has accumulated about an inch.
Terry
Another 5” in Flagstaff. You elk tag holders are having a snowy March....closing in on 30” for the month. Hopefully this continues into April!
Getting a little bit here in the white mountains.....couple inches of wet snow.

AZ8, Flagstaff area seems to have gotten a lot of snow over last 8-10 days. What are you up to for the month of March and for 2021 so far?
Knothead: Yeah, looks like the western Rim country is doing pretty good. We are up to 90” for the season. Only 7” came in Nov/Dec 2020. Over 80” since, so it’s been a snowy 2021. March will close out with 32”. Normal is 17”, so we’re doing good! Been shed hunting and the country looks good. Unfortunately, it’s drying pretty quick tho. Looks like a warm spell heading for Arizona later in the week.
Today is officially the first day of Monsoon season, and we got 8 hundreds of an inch temp dropped down from 102 to 68. Hopefully this is the start of something good.
Terry
Good little shower this evening.....hope it’s a sign of good things to come!
Me too, got a little bit today too. 104 in payson and when I got home 68. .003 on the rain gauge.
Terry
.25” this afternoon......I’ll take what I can!
First major rainstorm for us today. .63 inches. Have had several small storms that dropped .1 inches, so the total so far for the month/year are 1 inch and 8.6 inches. Normal rainfall is around 20 inches, so you can see we are a wee bit below normal. Hope this monsoon takes off and dumps a bunch more moisture.
Terry
Yeah, nothing to brag about here in Flagstaff either. We’ve had 2 decent rains, and a couple spitters. Forecast next week looks good, so hoping it ramps up quick!

Supposed to have a big storm this weekend, starting Thursday afternoon.
Since July 1, we're over 4" in Lakeside.
You ok Terry? Looks like your area may have surpassed yearly averages after the last storm rolled through.
Pushing 6” here in Flagstaff in the last 14 days. Rivers literally flowing through town!
3” out of the storm last night.....worst I’ve ever been in. Supposed to be another strong one tonight. Every water hole is overflowing around here
Knothead, we are ok, live on the side of hill, about 50ft. higher than the nearest stream. We have received about 2.5 inches with this storm. More expected tonight.
We lost power last night for a couple of hours. We have a standby generator that starts and switches the power automatically but I had set it not to run as the freezers and refrigerator would stay cold until the power came back on or until I started the gen.
Terry
Keep safe, Terry. Sure is greening up everywhere.....elk should be healthy going into winter.
I can’t remember seeing this number of intense storms so widespread across the state.
Terry, I’m sure you noticed the site we often look at has some sort of an error. I know for a fact that we’ve seen more than a quarter inch out of each storm in Forest Lakes!
Lots of rain and flooding all over the Prescott area too and the prairie is greening up nicely!
I noticed the error too. They were getting rain when I wasn't, so the rain amounts are not to be trusted. Total rain that I received was a little over 4 inches for the storm. Have not checked any of the stock tanks, still staying hunkered down until tomorrow when I go to Payson and get a haircut. Don't want to look like a girly man.
Terry
Lol. What I’ve seen so far is literally Epic. Places that haven’t seen water in years are a mess! It’s pretty awesome for sure.
This will hopefully spread the animals around so they are not all concentrated in a few places now. Now a want to be greedy and get the lakes filled back up.
Knothead, I can see that being close by unless it just stops suddenly.
Winter rains and snowpack is what fills up the large lakes and reservoirs. Some smaller local lakes have faired well, but it’s hardly made a dent in the overall long term storage concerns. After all this rain, Roosevelt has only risen about a foot. When the monsoon takes a break, which always happens, it’ll continue its downward trend again. But this has been GREAT for the short term and saved the forest and rangeland for awhile. It was getting dire. We bought some time now! Let’s hope for a wet winter!
I don’t know….. those raging flood waters are pushing several feet of water into those washes. The washes feed the rivers and the rivers feed the lakes. Can’t imagine that that doesn’t provide an impact. But, of course, winter weather is important as well.
Yeah, it looks impressive to us..... but the overall picture is just a blip in a year's water capacity. Here's a current, real time reading at Roosevelt Lake. After all that rain, it went up a foot and as you can see on the right, the lake is already dropping. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining...haha.... love all this rain, but monsoon floods have very little effect on filling up the major reservoirs.
Scott reservoir was just a mud hole two weeks ago.......water is still flowing into it and it’s about ready to go over the spillway! Did a lot of good for that particular reservoir.
Here is official Roosevelt lake height Sorry too small to read. July 1, 182, July 30, 211, and this is feet.

Lol….Roosevelt has not gone up 30 feet since July 1…. That would put it at about 99%full!! It would have been breaking news on every local station! Elevation on June 30 was 2123. Today it’s sits at 2122. Everyone can do the math. This rain has been great, but let’s not make stuff up. SRP runs Roosevelt. Their data is official. My apologies if I’m reading your chart wrong.

Here is the link I used, would like to believe it is true, if not shame on me. I do know all crossings of Tonto Creek in Tonto Basin are closed so it is flowing.

Different numbers posted here. came up a little over a foot? .
My area officially received right at 10” of rain for the month of July.
July ended with 9.03” in my neighborhood here in Flagstaff
One of the best summer monsoon I can remember! If it keeps raining here in Flagstaff, we’re gonna need Noah and his Ark! lol
3/4” here yesterday......good long lasting soaking rain.
