correct. However this storm moving thru looks as if it will be dropping lots of moisture. Predicted to last thru next weekend.

I got a total of 8 inches, 2 inches that melted off and then another 6. The rain gauge said that the 2 inches of snow yielded .41 inches of moisture, so total would be about 1.6 inches.

AZ8, Flagstaff area seems to have gotten a lot of snow over last 8-10 days. What are you up to for the month of March and for 2021 so far?

From: AZ8
27-Mar-21
Knothead: Yeah, looks like the western Rim country is doing pretty good. We are up to 90” for the season. Only 7” came in Nov/Dec 2020. Over 80” since, so it’s been a snowy 2021. March will close out with 32”. Normal is 17”, so we’re doing good! Been shed hunting and the country looks good. Unfortunately, it’s drying pretty quick tho. Looks like a warm spell heading for Arizona later in the week.

First major rainstorm for us today. .63 inches. Have had several small storms that dropped .1 inches, so the total so far for the month/year are 1 inch and 8.6 inches. Normal rainfall is around 20 inches, so you can see we are a wee bit below normal. Hope this monsoon takes off and dumps a bunch more moisture.

3” out of the storm last night.....worst I’ve ever been in. Supposed to be another strong one tonight. Every water hole is overflowing around here

From: Coyote 65
23-Jul-21
Knothead, we are ok, live on the side of hill, about 50ft. higher than the nearest stream. We have received about 2.5 inches with this storm. More expected tonight.

We lost power last night for a couple of hours. We have a standby generator that starts and switches the power automatically but I had set it not to run as the freezers and refrigerator would stay cold until the power came back on or until I started the gen.

I can’t remember seeing this number of intense storms so widespread across the state.

Terry, I’m sure you noticed the site we often look at has some sort of an error. I know for a fact that we’ve seen more than a quarter inch out of each storm in Forest Lakes!

Lots of rain and flooding all over the Prescott area too and the prairie is greening up nicely!

From: Coyote 65
26-Jul-21
I noticed the error too. They were getting rain when I wasn't, so the rain amounts are not to be trusted. Total rain that I received was a little over 4 inches for the storm. Have not checked any of the stock tanks, still staying hunkered down until tomorrow when I go to Payson and get a haircut. Don't want to look like a girly man.

Lol. What I’ve seen so far is literally Epic. Places that haven’t seen water in years are a mess! It’s pretty awesome for sure.

From: Knothead
26-Jul-21
This will hopefully spread the animals around so they are not all concentrated in a few places now. Now a want to be greedy and get the lakes filled back up.

From: AZBUGLER
27-Jul-21
Knothead, I can see that being close by unless it just stops suddenly.

From: AZ8

Winter rains and snowpack is what fills up the large lakes and reservoirs. Some smaller local lakes have faired well, but it’s hardly made a dent in the overall long term storage concerns. After all this rain, Roosevelt has only risen about a foot. When the monsoon takes a break, which always happens, it’ll continue its downward trend again. But this has been GREAT for the short term and saved the forest and rangeland for awhile. It was getting dire. We bought some time now! Let’s hope for a wet winter!

From: AZBUGLER
27-Jul-21
I don’t know….. those raging flood waters are pushing several feet of water into those washes. The washes feed the rivers and the rivers feed the lakes. Can’t imagine that that doesn’t provide an impact. But, of course, winter weather is important as well.

Yeah, it looks impressive to us..... but the overall picture is just a blip in a year's water capacity. Here's a current, real time reading at Roosevelt Lake. After all that rain, it went up a foot and as you can see on the right, the lake is already dropping. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining...haha.... love all this rain, but monsoon floods have very little effect on filling up the major reservoirs.

From: BOHNTR

Scott reservoir was just a mud hole two weeks ago.......water is still flowing into it and it’s about ready to go over the spillway! Did a lot of good for that particular reservoir.

Lol….Roosevelt has not gone up 30 feet since July 1…. That would put it at about 99%full!! It would have been breaking news on every local station! Elevation on June 30 was 2123. Today it’s sits at 2122. Everyone can do the math. This rain has been great, but let’s not make stuff up. SRP runs Roosevelt. Their data is official. My apologies if I’m reading your chart wrong.
