Found this one on Dec. 22nd. The other side is still missing. I’ll be out this week when more of the snow melts to really put in some time.
Mtman, very nice!! Could you give more details on what your focused on when looking? I’ve never had good success even when putting in the miles. Thanks.

Nice find blood, pretty early find . My best years are like this when we have enough snow to make them yard up a little . I look for torn up areas where they’ve fed and look for beds the last 3 I found were in the bed . When I find one I keep my eyes open quite often the other is close by

Forgot to mention south facing slopes in the sun right now there’s only about 6 inches the north sides have 3x that amount and very few tracks

Mt - I never got into shed hunting, tried it, failed, but I love your comment about heading to the deer yards around this time of the year. Going to try and get out this week.

Decided to take a walk in the woods today and look for some sheds. I got on several good deer trails in the really thick stuff, but all I found was a few deer hanging out waiting for me to show up :)
I did find a deer run that confirmed for me deer movement in the area and is something I'm going to use this fall when setting up. Of course, it may only be used in the winter, so we'll see.

Found a 8pt side last weekend on public, northwest corner of state. There was still a good amount of snow too.

In Goshen we still have 8-10" in the shade. This snow fell after they probably shed, so they will be hard to find.
60's this coming week, hopefully a lot melts. Then we got Mud Season.

I was in the NW corner as well, some spots had lots of snow but where I was had little to no snow, south side, thick cover. I thought it was perfect for following tracks in the snowy patches, and therefore coming across some sheds. I guess I'm just not good at it.

Me either Bob, the last seven or so I've found have all been year old or more. If they aren't sun bleached white, I can't find them.

I have been out a few times. No luck yet. I have looked around the bedding areas too but still no luck. I'll go for another hike today.
