So since you guys were talking about my polaroid pictures I thought it would be neat if we shared some pictures of long, long ago,......when we got out first deer and/or first buck. Here are my first deer ever, small doe from MDC property by Colebrook River Lake.
And my first buck, big body small rack, also from MDC property at Colebrook River lake.
Notme is nowhere to be seen; very confusing, lol. BBB,wonderful pics and indelible memories.
I saw those same pictures at the museum.....etched in a stone wall....lol. nice pictures. See if I can find some of mine
My first Deer Archery was 1977 (VT) when I was 15. Only one picture that I know of. Things were so much simpler then.
No antique pictures, but this was my first archery kill bigger than a fox squirrel or cottontail....
Yep. Hangin’ in the garage with all the others.
Sifting down through a bedding area one afternoon at about 9100 feet; he and a few others stood up in their beds to see what I was about, and I plunked him at what I later stepped off at 28.
#55@28” Howatt Hunter with a 2018 and a 125 gr Thunderhead Magnum. He hauled BUTT outta there and made it maybe 100 yards before he passed out mid-leap....
That was the heaviest load I've ever packed. #110 in one trip so the coyotes and the bear only got what I wanted them to have....
nehunter - the Allman Brothers were hunters?
BBB. I got a good laugh on that one!
I laughed too when my wife found those old "polaroids" of me at 20-something. The old pics are fun to share though, so keep them coming.

Bad ass band for sure!!!!
I was never one to take pics of my hunting and fishing exploits, wish I did now as I'm get older
Me, neither… Just kind of not into the whole hero shot thing....
For some reason, I was always more comfortable with it if it was a catch and release fishing kind of a deal… Don’t know what that says. Maybe it’s mostly that a camera used to be a big, heavy piece of equipment that cost a lot of money and had to be kept dry at all costs…
Notme, listening to the Allmans definitely delays the aging process as does bow hunting lol.
My first deer. I think I was 14. It looks like BBB and I shared both the same barber and the same eye doctor.
Couple of others of my grandfather and his crew from the 1950's. They drove from Stamford CT to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick deer hunting and always did well.
Toonces, great buck for a first deer. My first deer was a button horn. The guys I was with were taking an extra hour for lunch so I still hunted a close by trail. The deer walked in front of me (no aiming necessary) and when I fired my buddies came running. I embellished the kill saying it was a 50yd running shot. That Sunday at their farm in front of family and friends they asked again to relive the shot. When I said 50yds he reached in and pulled the wad from the deer's chest cavity and everyone laughed like crazy. They were great guys to hunt with; I was fortunate. We had fun.
A couple from back in the day . My daughter holding the 4 ptr and Dave in the other photos
Didn’t care much about horns back then
The first deer I was able to drag out by the horns . Lol
Toonces - wow, I guess that crew DID do well. Love seeing the old pics, thanks for sharing.
Grossed 146 and made P&Y after deductions. Weighed 195lbs field dressed too!

This was my first buck. Back in 1990. I hunted 5 seasons before I got my first deer, then stuff just started to fall into place.
My first deer was a doe, earlier that same year.....I’m still looking for a picture and will post it when I find it. I still haven’t topped this buck.
Damn Blood, you sure started near the top of success for bucks! Nice!! And is that the "first" ever compound bow???
I actually forgot that taking a "hero shot" with the deer was a thing back in 1987. Just took a pic with the rack on my head! I mostly remember nowdays. My first biggie was in '93 with a Ruger No. 1 from 25 yards in a Tree Lounge tree stand in Wilton. Clould just as easily have been a bow kill.
Dr., you don't see that Ruger used much today and it was popular at one time.
Doc - that's cheating on two fronts. Gun kill and in 1993 I was 43 years old :>) That's a really nice buck though!
Ruger #1 in .45/70 would be awful hard to beat. Though having a “spare” in .35 Whelen would be pretty schweet.
Great pics all around. I might have some from my hunting days in Wisconsin.
