Bill, you know I'm in! Roy might be the first recorded, but I hope I'm the last lol. There will always be some controversy surrounding the term "legally taken" lol. At one time, everything was legal, then they take the right from you, and for a fee, give that right back to you. Truth is, there was some paleo man who took the first with either an atlatl or spear, but Roy is certainly a legend in the modern world! Look at how far we've come. Even Roy's bow would likely be more closely related to what paleo man used, than what most of us hoist up in our tree.
