Now I didn't think of this and some of you might know this but I think it's a great easy tactic. Find an active scrape at one location take the worked dirt to another location(plastic bag) and use it for a mock scrape. My thinking would b the dominate buck would pick up on this immediately and check it often. A good tactic that I will try this year. That and the grapevine trick I learned here.

I don't know whether this is good but I add a little sand to the dark dirt in a mock scrape to make it easier to scrape .They seem to like it.

No I never did that. Because that would require finding a scrape.

I learned the grapevine trick here also and all ages of deer were visiting it including a couple of nice bucks. I used Smokey Mountain preorbital gland scent that someone on here recommended. I took 4 tassels off a deer drag and stapled them high on the grapevine and soaked them with the scent I had many pictures of deer standing to rub on it. I have learned some good stuff on here.

I did do that I had a collection of different ziplock bags with dirt and pee in them. I still believe the idea has merit, but it was a lot of effort and yielded no results.

Always good stuff here Fran! I have a few grape vines I’m gonna try this year! On my uncle had out last year already had deer coming to it pawing around.

Fran that orbital gland option seems like a great tool for those year long scrapes, and a camera trap.

Fran, you don't have to use material from your deer drag; just fray one end of a strand of paracord and soak it in your scent. Tie it to the vine using unfrayed end .

Thank's for the tip BD it makes more sense than ruining my drags. LOL.
