I recently moved to East Tenn after bowhunting the upper midwest, mostly Illinois, 7for the last 30 yrs. How is the public land here and are there opportunities to "knock on doors" for permission? Willing to work or pay, or share meat and fish to bowhunt. Hope to put boots on the ground later this summer and do some scouting. Cherishing the last dozen bags of midwest venison still left in my freezer. Sure they taste a little different down here, but I will still enjoy.

Hello. Like you I am a recent arrival to E Tenn. I live in Tazewell. I moved from NM. I still have home there and am keeping my residency there for hunting. What was your experiences so far?

I’m in Carter county in E TN. We moved here abut 2 years ago after living in Charlotte for 15 years. There are less deer here, and the mountain terrain and bear hunters running dogs definitely make it a more difficult hunt, but I like it so far. How about you guys?
