Saw an add on the outhouse Channel yesterday about a crossbow that shoots two arrows. That ought to make it easier. LOL

With the way our crossbow bill is written with specific language in state code it would be illegal to hunt with them in WV

I think I found a way to shoot 3 arrows off my longbow. Didn’t see a reg against that. Hopefully with 3 arrows I can get that 16 pointer I’m after

Xbow technology continues to evolve and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. I think it was a Stryker or Ravin I saw that I don't even think uses a string but some kind of rod or piston to propel the bolt. It was hard to tell from the picture but the description sure sounded like that was the case. Sure is a long way from a hand drawn/hand held/ hand released conventional bow. These may be against regulation but an officer wouldn't have to discover someone using them and then write the ticket which would most likely get thrown out since legitimate poaching cases often gets tossed.

Yes , i can see poachers waiting in line to spend 2 or 3000 dollars plus to buy a crossbow for poaching when good old 22 rifle has gotten the job done for years.

It won’t be poachers. It will be bow hunters.

Babysaph , If a person is using any illegal means to hunt game then they are a poacher. and from what I have read the crossbows we are talking about in this post are illegal in WV .

Yep. But they will be allowed soon. These companies didn’t build em to sell to poachers. They built them to sell to bowhunters. I remember when crossbows were not allowed too.

Babysaph , all crossbow buyers are not going to spend the kind of money it takes to buy these novelty high dollar crossbows like the twin strike from Excalibur , just as all hunters dont buy Mathews V3 AT 1200 dollars add a Garmin Xero A1 auto ranging digital bow sight for 800 dollars, 2000 dollars not counting quiver arrows, rest and release , everyone does not buy the latest and greatest

Lots don’t but some do. Where I shoot they trade their bows every year for the new sets model just like a car. I don’t care who buys what but it will be legal soon and I care about that.

I know one thing. I was certainly wrong about the crossbow being so popular in WV. So, I’d not be surprised if these things gain popularity.
