I’m taking my father in law hunting next week. We are coming from Wisconsin to hunt unit 14. We going to be looking at going south East of Steamboat Springs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Does anyone know how much smoke in in the area? I'm heading up there next week for my first elk hunt. Had to re-plan some of my intended locations due to the emergency closure around the Morgan Creek fire. Not sure if heading up North of Steamboat and closer to the fire is a good idea or if going to the Southeast would be better.

Just got back from 14 off the Red Dirt Trail - heavy pressure even after a 4 hour horse ride in; burns still very fresh , slippery ash mud, gorgeous country - no elk, saw absolutely no elk in our basin and then some - go elsewhere for now - cheers.
