The forecast for next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday is awesome for the Grand Mesa. A good chance of rain and cooler temps, highs of 53 opening day and 58 on Friday. I am psyched.

Looks great if you can get up there. I hope to be across the valley from you on Battlement. But if we get a soaker, it will be a day or two before we can get up through the gumbo.

After many years of sweating it out in the 80's during opening days of archery elk season.....this looks down right nifty to me.
Now I think these are off a bit as it was 42F Sunday morning when forecast was for the low 50's....but the forecast location is a little lower than my hunt spot.

There’s now a severe thunderstorm warning for Grand Mesa on Wednesday night and 80-100% chance of rain. A wet forest is a quiet forest. We’re hoping to get backpacked the two miles to our camp before noon on Wednesday.

I know I'm getting old, I have the first 4 days of season off and I'm going to go try and shoot some dove tomorrow due to the rain in the mountains and might drive up and do a day hunt on Saturday, don't like non stop rain, I have 12 days off starting late next week, I'll try a little harder then!
