I am missing my annual colorado elk trip this year. For a consolation I am considering a short trip to the pennsylvania elk country. Does anyone have any recommendations concerning hiking, camping, backpacking?
I would likely take a fishing pole as well.
I have been looking at the wykoff run area??? Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Not familiar with that specific area, but I would highly recommend snake boots or gaiters!

Are there many elk in the Wykoff area to see/hear?
I have ridden a bit of the thunder mountain trail on a horse. Though, I know none of the country. Other suggestions?

Only trail I’ve been on is the Elk Trail near Benezette. We did an overnight in mid-aug last year and although we saw plenty of fresh sign, no elk appeared on the SGL foodplot that evening or the next morning.

Did you go to Wykoff? What were your findings? It looks like a good area to just get away
