Very cool way to start this year's Colorado meat thread. Nice moose on a once in a life time tag, congrats! And, kudos for taking out youngin's to fill the freezer- and then chipping in at 70 plus to fill the freezer. Nice example to set, for yours and those that view this thread! Very cool on both ends!

John MC, there are few personal traits which I admire more than a good sense of humor. You do keep me laughing. Young Gage, pictured above, last year, his first year, shot a deer and an antelope the same afternoon. Matt's wife shot a buck muley the first day this year. Older son's wife, Pam killed an antelope first day. Nephew Tony has 2 kids, 14 yr old Tyler and 16 yr old Natalie. Those 2 kids killed 4 animals first day out. And, there were a few family friends who also killed deer or antelope the first few days. It has been a good year. This family is blessed and very grateful for the opportunities this country provides us.
And congrats on your buck antelope, John. That is a beauty.

My CO G5 Nanny from a couple of days ago. No the biggest by any stretch, but it was an epic hunt and I was able to to enjoy it with one of my sons, which made it the most enjoyable hunt I have yet to partake in. Despite the stories of shooting goats in the campground, I can assure this was anything but an easy hunt

Congrats to all you guys and gals! I was fortunate enough to fill my moose tag opening morning. 3 yard shot, 20 yards till tip over and best of all about 80 yards from the truck! I'm a little jealous of all the big bulls being posted but I wouldn't trade my experience for anything.

Dream come true! I have always wanted to sneak up on a buck laying below a cliff wall. It happened this year on my first day out hunting. Spotted this buck laying up under the cliff in the shade. With the right wind I found myself standing 8 feet above this buck for 10 minutes trying to decided whether to punch my tag on this buck or hold out for a bigger one that I seen early in the morning. Needless to say I told my self I couldn't pass this story up. The photo with the arrow in the dirt is the way it was when I climbed down. I was shocked that the buck didn't pull it out of the dirt when he stood up. The bigger buck will have to wait till next year.

Finally on the scoreboard after a 2 year slump! Tickled it's ears I think the first shot, then it gave me a second try and I center punched it in the head at about 15 yards! Been a couple years since I've seen any of these, saw 2 today, the other one was a lot lot smarter!

Put 24 days into Colo Elk season this year, 20 of them boots on ground hunting. Mostly packed in deep wilderness with rented llamas a couple different spots. Drew with my brother ABQBW and we used a combined 29 pref points for this unit known for quantity and not bulls larger than 320 or so.
Called this bull in nearly half mile across wide open meadow after calling in and passing a pile of bulls in 260-310ish range hoping for bigger. Bigger finally came together 9 miles from trailhead. Really was a great adventure overall— hunting so many days and not seeing other hunters. Where I was hunting when killed this bull was 5 miles past deepest outfitter camp. Killed the 3rd largest bull I saw in of all those hunting days so really thrilled with the outcome.

A little late to the party, but I killed this bull on September 3rd. Tree stand in same tree as last year's bull and he died 30 yards from last year's bull. When he tilted his head to come in through the quakies all I saw was his fronts and decided I was going to take him. I didn't even know how many points he had or how big he was until I walked up on him where he laid. Spent the next 13 nights playing camp cook and guarding the whiskey!

I only had 4 days to hunt. so I scouted, set up a stand/camera and the first sit this buck was the second buck that came through and gave me an opportunity so I took him. Biggest bodied buck I’ve ever taken. His rack is average but unique as it almost touches in front. Truly feel blessed!
