We’re out setting some of the new guys up.
I thought you went n took a nap after eating lunch
No sir! Checking out new spots! Set up a ground blind
Good luck to the 5c crew!!!
Thanks Bill! We have 41 registered hunters.............gonna check radar in the morning to see if there is a window .................don’t want to hunt in a downpour and possibly lose a bloodtrail.
It seems to me that mornings are a little better right now
Get out there, shoots is the rain MUST be slam dunks only
Best of luck to you hunters!
Thanks Jeff! 6:45 and most everybody is out hunting. Heavy rain seems to be just west of us near Harrisburg.
I’m in a blind on the back corner of the field - winds starting to gust. We saw a spike bedded in the field by himself when we drove in.
LOTS of deer damage here when we brought our stands/blinds in yesterday. No ears of corn On the first 4 rows and the beans are MOWED DOWN on the edge of woods- looks like it wasn’t even planted there!
752 am saw a red fox. My guide for this hunt is the legendary Perry/ aka rut nut/ aka snake bite. He will be rated as a guide, from 1 star to 5 stars at the end of this hunt.
Thanks Dale!
We are back at camp now hunkered down under the big tent regrouping while it POURS!
No deer spotted while hunting this morning. Hopefully after this front moves thru they will start moving.........................
One of the hunters had a doe and 2 yearlings in range but wind gusted and she turned and trotted off out of range before he could get a shot off.
Another hunter saw 5 doe but they managed to circle him at 50y and cross the road. : (
ED, I was going to say I taught him everything I know, but that doesn't mean he learned everything I know. Go easy on him, he means well.
I don’t think I learned THAT much Art! ;-)
Ok- we’re back at it! Teeton, Curtis and Clint are hunting the hardwoods with white Oaks also might catch them coming out to the corn.
Art,, Perry's at one * so far.
Good luck everyone. Be safe, shoot straight.
Curtis saw a buck and Teeton saw a doe but no shot.
Art Reid shot 2 doe and Sam Nelson shot one. WAY TO GO GUYS!
Here’s the leader board so far
Thanks to Gene and Ela for their help getting those deer out of the woods. Truth be told, I'd probably still be out there if it wasn't for them...
That’s the nice part of this hunt...................if you need help tracking or dragging you just call in the cavalry! ;-)
Gene helped me on a tough tracking job one year!
Andy, you hunting in Australia
I hope he’s not hanging upside down from his safety line! ;-)
Just heard one of our hunters put one down......................she went down right under one of our other hunter’s stands! : )
Nothing here yet.
Good luck to all! Looks like great weather now that the rain is gone.
Thanks Phil!
Just heard Pat Schild the office manager got one.
So rut. How about a morning recap
Sorry, kinda got sidetracked....................Dale Miller’s son-in-law shot a doe that died right under Kristy’s stand!
Our group didn’t see any- even pushed the corn before we left to see if they were still hangin’ in there and nothing. Darryl saw a buck.
Here is the updated standings: (We didn’t get a weight on John’s deer because they took it right home, so it won’t be in the running for BIG MOMMA..............)
5 deer as of noon today.
Cool rut. Keep it up
Might be good to hunt a little later into the morning tomorrow
Yep! 2 more shot tonight with a couple close calls. Gotta have a good last day!
Darryl shot a groundhog but it got down the hole. We told him he has to dig it up if he wants the VERMINATOR award!(we need to see a carcass! ;-)
Oh, and Andy was trying out a new look tonight! : )
Looks like Andy would make a good Kazsanta !
I saw Orwig in his stand on Instagram last night.
I should be there by 10 or 11 this morning.
LMBO Bill!
Had to go to PLAN B with the food AND hunting today! Help yourself to venison BBQ if you get hungry Art- we’ll be there closer to noon. It’s in the crockpot and rolls are on the table.
Sitting in my stool on the ground this morning. Another hunter (NOT from our group) was headed back to where I had my climber, so I went to a different spot.
Darryl just had some “action”......................but not the kind you want! Had a big rotted out tree fall right next to him! : (
Here is a screenshot of the video Darryl sent..............
Just heard one of the new guys brought one in to be weighed.
Hey I just saw a chipmunk !!!
2 more brought in this morning!
Jen Sager brought in a big one! Currently leading for BIG MOMMA award! : )
Up to 9 on the deer count
Congratulations Jen!!
She's won the Big Momma before hasn't she?
She has won before. Great to see everybody today!
Actually that was Patty in 2018..................Jen has shot some deer before, but Patty is the only one in the family to win BiIG MOMMA!
Look forward to this thread every year, thanks for sharing and congrats to everyone. Hoping for a strong finish for you all!!
Helping Andy’s group drag 3 out..................
2 more back at camp. New record! 14 deer! : )
Congratulations on a new record! And thanks to everyone involved in setting this up and running it.
Thanks guys! Another GREAT event! A NEW record 14 deer with 8 being donated to HSH!
Jen got a little nervous when Jason’s 3rd deer came in, but she held on for BIG MOMMA. : )
Here’s the final Talley:
Art Reid won for heaviest deer donated
And Rich Gould won the raffle prize for those who donated their deer
Thanks to all who participated and helped us set a record this year!
We will also be making a monetary donation to HSH from the registration fees.
Great going guys and gals
Thanks Bill! 8 deer for HSH
Great stuff Perry and crew. Having a great time while doing great things for other ppl. Well done all
Another amazing year. Thankyou to everyone that participated as well as everyone that helped us set up and tear down camp
Always knew you guys did great work. Great to see it first hand. Thanks everybody. Way to shoot too.
THANKS for the kind words guys! Always dead tired by the end of the weekend, but it’s a good tired! ;-)
Actually, I found out we had one come in after midnight that was recovered late- good thing we have that cooler to put it right in!
So the correct total was 15 deer taken with 9 donated to HSH!
Was great to see and chat with you some art
You too Andy. I know you'll keep up the great tradition of service to this organization that all your predecessors have.
Thanks again to everyone who worked so hard to put this together! Helping the farmers deal some deer that are damaging their crops and donating meat is a great kickoff to archery season.
I'm already looking forward to next year!
Thanks guys! It is always a GREAT kickoff to Archery season!
