2 in pkg 2” each = 4” X 13 pkg. = 52” of back strap . 26” each back strap Sounds about right for loins.

The backstrap on the mule deer buck I got this year had to have been close to 2' (24") long and I got 6 packages of steaks, 4 per package. I took the buck to Valley Meats by Dayton. I had the rest put in burger and got a bunch of packages of that too. Surely a bull elk has on longer backstraps than 26"...

Sounds like there is more to this than the OP has given us. Maybe he didn’t bring in a full length back strap. Huntcell is hitting it right on the nose as well. Or, he is just ticked about something and trying to ruin someone’s reputation without giving the whole story….

Outfitter friend of mine clients take a number of elk to Wycota and he told me today all of them have been happy with the processing. You sure can't please everybody.
