Saw a buck locked down in a beanfield last week. Grunted in a buck this morning. Richland county.

I killed a nice buck last week in Franklin County. He’d been actively working scrapes for a week. I’m over in White Co hunting for the week and we’ve seen good activity so far. Good luck everyone!

Hunted Randolph county yesterday. Lots of aggressive scraping taking place. Have not seen any active chasing but saw multiple deer and to me it looks like next week should be prime. First frost this morning. Good luck to everyone.

Buddy in Clark county had 4 130-150 inch bucks bothering 12 uncooperative does in picked corn this morning

In west central IL the hunting this past weekend was surprisingly slow. Weather was perfect too. Most of the mature bucks I had on camera have been mia for the last couple weeks. No idea what’s up with that but hopefully they return or show up. Bucks seem to still be working scrapes pretty heavy which generally means they’re not with does yet and we haven’t seen any real chasing going on yet either. As poster above stated, would think this weekend in to next week the switch has to go on. Good luck out there and be safe!

18 yard shot he only went 50 yards.

I also took a 135” ten point evening of 11/4 but he was in a bachelor group of 4 if you can believe it. Him 2 spikes & a basket 8 were playing in a bottom half an hour before coming in. No does to be seen. No rutting behavior but his neck was full swollen. Southern IL. Second tag will be for wall hanger or nothing.
Really appreciating just participating after losing my 2020 hunting season to Covid.

Finally some heavy action this morning. Had four bucks tailing a hot doe. A basket 8, ~110”, ~130” & a ~145” all within bow range. The 130” & 145” had an epic full bore fight just 35 yards from me. I have a slammer special hunt coming up else I’d have taken the 145”. All four bucks offered easy punch out shots. I’m going to sit on stand all day today as I got a comfy tree at a primary creek crossing.

I have witnessed just a handful of serious fights over my 30 years of bow hunting. Mostly in Iowa from a distance. None where I hunted the most in Indiana. But this battle Tuesday was just epic, and right in front of my stand. The big guy stopped and pawed the ground hard three times, postured then let’er rip. A violent and powerful clash. Unfortunately I couldn’t film it because I had my bow in hand trying to decide if I wanted to take him. I did grab for my iPhone but just fumbled it while watching the fight. The whole event was just amazing.
