Oregon and Washington have wolve problems in the rural areas. CO now has wolf problems in rural areas. Someone found an effective method of dealing with said problem.

You have a hungry 8 pack in the Walden area. Prime cattle and sheep ranching country not to mention premier moose and elk wintering grounds.

Tom, please limit your drivel to the AZ or main forum, let's keep the CO forum productive...

Well we’ve all seen how this plays out across the other afflicted States so I’m certainly not expecting any different in CO. The upside is you have now a viable breeding pack which negates the need for imports. I’d congratulate you but now things are going to go to hell opportunity wise. Wolf sanctuary status is going to be a nightmare for ranchers, shepherds and of course the wildlife. Come spring that pack will more than double in size then others will split off to neighboring territory. Walden may be able to capitalize on this tho. Come to Walden and watch the wolves devour the fawns as they drop. $$$$.

Our existing wolves haven't slowed down the State's plan to import more. They have been showing up here from WY for years and establishing packs was inevitable.

That wasn't good enough for the pro-wolfers so they got establishing a bigger population on the ballot and won. The couple confirmed packs are just a taste of what's coming. CO is far more left than WY, MT and ID so it's likely managing them will cause a lot of drama

There's no "upside". Natural infiltration may negate the need to import wolves but it won't deter the promoters.

If you know history, poison and traps is the only way to control wolves, and even then it was a battle. But like socialism, we are letting it happen. If we can.t learn from the states north of us and such recent history, I doubt we will learn from the last centuries lessons with wolves. The animal itself is still the cold blooded killer it always has been.

The problem is George, we have a couple of generations of “educated voters” who think they know better than the history lessons their great grandparents lived.

Yep, trapping is illegal in CO by voter initiative, and poison will never, ever, be approved in this state. We'll be lucky to get the snowflake Commission to ever approve shooting in the future unless they invade Boulder and start eating kids. Then they will hire "sharpshooters" using hunter funds. We are so screwed in this state.

I'm happier now that our long term plan is to relocate after the kids are grown. 15-20 years ago the plan was to be in CO forever. Not wanting out because of wolves - half the States on our list have wolves. Awesome place, great balance of weather, public land, species, and habitat. Like most stuff that is screwed up, its a people issue.

Tell Colorado Park & Wildlife: • NO recreational killing of wolves. • NO arbitrary limits on wolf distribution. • NO arbitrary limits on wolf abundance. • Livestock producers must be required to implement conflict avoidance strategies on public land.
