In a short time I'll be in a swamp where wall hangers skulk and prowl .My hopes and dreams depend on the wind and two dinky shooting lanes but on this windless morning I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The anticipation will be delicious . Good luck all.

We put one down yesterday. Didn’t even sit. Got to spot and had 3 doe walking outta the woods twords us. Back at it today. Maybe I’ll shoot a birthday deer again this year! Good luck fellas!

Yesterday heard one come crashing through at last light, never saw him, but I’ll take any sign of hope I can get at this point. Mentioned to my mother that the freezer was still empty this year, and she told me to “try harder.” Ok!

Had a doe at 50 yrds. No shot feeding around. Every deer I've seen at that spot has come down the hill straight to me. With bow in hand she stays out of range and skirts my position

Saw about every type of wildlife in the woods today besides deer. Two barred owls put on quite the pre dawn symphony, a fishcer cat, and 1,000 squirrels.

Saw one, still to dark to determine buck/doe, and close to legal time, so I just let it pass. Then a home owners brittany pup decided to prance around for a while which was actually entertaining. Especially when it dug up a small animal, death shook it and ate it. All I could think, was how the owners probably would never believe their little dog ate a mouse/mole/chipmonk or whatever it was ha ha ha!
After that, no more action, still fun to be out though.

I heard some steady walking like a man. I duck down. Look up and there’s a solid 8 pointer there 20 yards or less to me. I had a moment of regret for using my 2 buck tags but: I was happy to shoot my deer when I did it I had a great day out with some buddies. I avoided getting shot by one of the 7 rounds I heard go off in this small parcel. We were there before first light. When we came out at like 8am there were cars and people everywhere.

I'm a proud grandpa ; 17yr old grandson just smoked a long tined 8 in Ct. with his bow. Obtained permission himself , set up the cam and patterned the buck and closed the deal this afternoon.

Scout/hunted via canoe access this afternoon. Tons of beaver sign but no deer sign in the first spot. Got to a second spot just a few minutes before sunset and heard something crashing through the woods across a big cattail marsh from me then around the bottom and for an exciting few minutes I though it’d keep coming right on up to me but I think it eased off downriver, which was into the wind. Still fun though!

My hinting career as an adult has finally come full circle. Not in Mass, so hopefully ok to post, but went out to my uncles property in WV and shot this buck with my .270. I also shot my first deer here when I was 14, and after a long break from the sport, finally got back into hunting seriously when I turned 22. Have spent countless hours during bow and VT rifle season in the woods this year, and the opportunity to go to an unpressured spot and enjoy nature, and then take this buck at 170 yards uphill, this weekend was everything I could have ever asked for as a first buck as an adult and first buck ever! Taken 12/3 just outside Birkley Springs WV

P.S. also hope I might get a free pass for the rifle LOL. I hunt with a recurve up north and have blown a couple golden opportunities, so there's my excuse, whether or not it's acceptable ??

Thanks everyone! Definitely an enjoyable hunt that I got to spend with my father which is something I will always cherish. As self gratifying as it was to simplify the harvest by taking a far more modern approach, I'll be back in the woods up north with my recurve until the end of the season! Even though I haven't successfully taken one yet with my archery equipment, the close encounters I have had have me absolutely hooked! Merry Christmas and happy holiday season to you all!
