Why we are on the subject of law enforcement does anybody know about this transport law of a deer . I thought we no longer had to have the deer open to view anymore this seems to have been going back and forth .I didn't think they wanted us hunters to offend the non hunting public in the commonwealth of mass .

Deer need to be visible until checked in. Deer checked electronically can be in your truck/truck.

You can check it from your phone except 1st week of gun season you cannot. Therefore, all deer 1st week gun season have to be visible. Interesting comment from EPO: deer must be visible or a sign on on your car that says, “Deer inside car”.

So instead of "Baby on Board" it would say " Bambi on Board". Let's go

here is the whole excerpt from the masswildlife page. note it does not say the tag has to be removed from the license (BUT it clearly says that on the tags themselves).

+ tag must be removed from permit, immediately attached to carcass (before you do anything else...photos, moving to a better location, etc etc)

+ if you check in online, you can remove the tag to write the confirmation # on it, but must immediately reaffix to the carcass

+ paper tag or metal seal must stay attached until processed for taxidermy or food.

+ carcass must be visible during transport until it has been officially sealed (during 1st week of shotgun) or reported online and confirmation number is written on tag...then it may be concealed.
