Same here. I was excited for e tag until I found out you still have to carry something to physically tag the animal. Seems kind of dumb.

36 here again. What are odds for drawing it 2 out of 3 years as a group of 4.

Looks like I am the lucky lone nonresident tag draw for archery antelope in 16. Can’t wait, love spot and stalk for those critters and LOVE that country.

Y’all New Mexicans needs to kill that Eplus system. Thousands of tags that could hve been drawn are sold to highest bidder. What is it, 40 percent of all elk tags being siphoned off and given away.

^^^ The E-Plus system is why some of us have been able to hunt elk when we don't draw. And no, it doesn't always benefit the highest bidder...

If it wasn't for the E-Plus those tags wouldn't be sold or put into the draw. I would say the majority of those tags are for animals that never leave private land.

I need to change my name to green sparky since I got deer and elk and both my daughters drew.

The best part of hunting NM is seeing red on all your choices and then watching all the YouTube videos from all the non residents that drew tags here. No, they are not all buying landowner.

Add in all the dug addicts, homeless, crime, high cost of living and California dreamin politics…

Two more years of high school for my son then it’s decision time.

Appreciate the folks in support of the E-Plus system. Heinrich is trying to kill it, and I'm here to tell you, if he's successful in doing so, the elk will suffer for it. As a landowner, I benefit from this program yes, but its not highest bidder-and my land supports elk YEAR 'Round. If you look at a simple OnX overview, you will see that a large part of elk habitat is private land. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, there are "conservative" hunters who get very socialist when it comes to tag allocation. I am not a rich man by any means, but I sacrificed a lot to be able to buy land that my family and freinds could hunt on without relying on the draw. It has benefitted my boys in ways you couldn't imagine, and yes I do also benefit finacially for paid hunters. It's an investment in more ways than one.

Uh, I don’t have any problem with buying your own land and hunting it. That’s good. You don’t own the wildlife but if they’re there for you to hunt? Well that’s pretty nice.

Regarding UW: As I understand there is a score system in place to quantify properties for tags. I think there should be a similar system to deem a property as beneficial to the unit and the unit wide tag holders. Benefits include everything they use to issue tags and most importantly access to secluded public land. If your property is small yet has access, UW available… but should you decline, no RO tags. A lot of these LOs, small and large, RO tag holders trespass on public land with RO tags. I’m sure this is sometimes a selling point as well as a few winks on where the property lines are. There are no shortages of outlaws in NM.

I'm FINALLY a non resident elk tag holder in New Mexico. First time I've seen green on NM draw results in 15 years of applications. Best part, the tag is my first choice...Unit 34, second archery season. Been on Cloud 9 for a few days now!

At my age, I was beginning to wonder if I would ever get the opportunity to bowhunt New Mexico. Actually tried going the LO tag route for the first time in 2021. Contacted a well known tag broker and "purchased" a Unit 36 UW archery elk voucher (his best available voucher at the time). Three weeks after the LO voucher numbers were released, I still had nothing. On a Thursday in July, the tag broker contacted the landowner and confirmed the voucher was still mine...but the landowner stated he had not yet picked up the vouchers. The next day, the landowner informed the tag broker he had received a better offer...and the voucher was sold. The tag broker called me to break the bad news...and assured me this had never happened with this particular landowner before. He Express mailed my money back the same day, and apologized several times over the weekend via text. Nothing against the tag broker ( I blame the pandemic and lack of hunting opportunity outside the Lower 48 ), but I pretty much decided I would never try the NM LO tag option again...and a year later, that option has fortunately become moot point.

"There are no shortages of outlaws in NM."

Now, now, that's now way to talk about YOUR governor... ; ^ )

pav...I am seriously sorry that happened. I know its not the tag broker's fault, but I would warn everyone about the upcharge and dangers of tag brokers. I have never had a good experience with them. I'd do your own homework and look at the landowners list. You'll save money, and get to talk to the actual owner in most cases (some go straight to their outfitter).

Ohio-I couldn't agree more on the UW tags and the access/benefit issue. I don't believe some of these SCR ranches are accessible and they get a UW tag with no benefit to the public land hunters.

I have RO because I want to hunt it and I don't want anyone else hunting it. If it's a good enough property and sizable enough it should stand on its own.

Just my two cents.

When do they post the leftover tags ?

From: HDE

^^^ keep an eye on the webpage for news updates. They'll post the date when they'll be available. Most leftovers are youth doe antelope and youth archery deer. Some "adult" hunts, but not many.
