Hey guys so I live in PA literally 3 miles from the WV border(Brook county). I hunt in both PA and OH but have been considering getting a WV license. Any of you hunt up this way? I know there are bear in the area and more a bit further south. Any of you guys hunt in the northern panhandle? Feel free to chime in!

I do NOT hunt the area but I'd say your chances are better with at Wheeling Island Casino than with a bear in the Northern Panhandle.

Nearest huntable population of bears is probably eastern Monongalia County and Preston.

Good luck.

A buddy that hunts in Moundsville which isn't that far south along rt 2 has bears all over his farm.

Then go give it a try if they’re all over the farm .

There were 0 bears harvested in Hancock county in 21, 0 bears harvested in Brooke county in 21, 0 bears harvested in Ohio county in 21, 2 bears harvested in Marshall county in 21, Marshall has had a total of 6 bears harvested in last 5 years. I don’t think they’re all over anyplace in Marshall county . Like Cory said, odds might be better at casino . Unless you’re just really lucky your best odds are going to be better in central part of state. Preston and Tucker counties are closer to PA and there are a lot more bear than northern panhandle. Preston had 76 killed last year and Tucker had 90 harvested.

MattAnderson, I live in Brooke County,I know people who have bear on trail cam in Brooke County as well as a good friend who has bear on trail cam in Marshall county. The people I know in Marshall say they see bear every year, they don’t bow hunt, they don’t hunt bear, they rifle hunt deer and that’s it.

I know nothing about it but from reading the bowkill numbers you might hit the Powerball first. Lots of bow killed bears are killed over bait regardless of county

No matter the odds you won’t know unless you try - good luck! Sounds like you might have a chance there on your friend’s farm!

Yea JR that does does happen in WV some - I believe I remember reading on here it’s happened. I still like to believe most hunters are honest though.

Here's one! What you don't see is the hole in the right shoulder and the exit in the left armpit. Shot him early last archery season.

Let's see if this works now. I tried to add the photo but kept getting dumps. Second try.

I would love to hunt bears, but they don't live in my circles, so my hobby was playing poker. My friends and I play almost daily, and I developed a talent for it. My friends noticed this and started advising me to play at the casino. I didn't like the idea, but I decided to try it once. I went to https://1win-ozbekiston.com/, and within a few hours, I could multiply my initial capital by several times. Now I decided to start earning by playing poker regularly. What do you think is a good idea?

Anybody that’s ever run a feeder in WV knows that JR. There are simply too many bears walking around and too many feeders.

In my belief, it’s one of the reasons there are so many bears. Corn feeders every where. I seriously don’t know if you could legitimately claim a bear kill as not being influenced by a feeder if you run them on your hunting land. That’s why I don’t run feeders on my hunting grounds. That, and I’m pretty certain mature deer catch on pretty quick to them.

Exactly Mtneer. You will not kill a Bear without corn in it. I say the same thing. There would not be many bow killed bears without baiting. And ditto on the feeders. Big ole smart does and bucks are nocturnal on em. Once sitting a stand they figure it out. I had a neighbor in Pendleton county that fed deer. He did not hunt just liked the deer around. I figured out an area about 600 yards from his feeder that the deer came though early in the morning after feeding on his corn. They would mill around the oaks and then head back up the mtn. About an hour before dark they would come back in this area and wait til just before dark to go to the feeders. Laid a bunch of them low in this area

I've killed 2 bears in eighteen years, no feeders. I've had several come by in SC but the season was out, we only get two weeks and one of those are party hunts. I figured out throwing a party while I was hunting wasn't exactly attracting bears in, besides no one showed up.
