My Son's Elk - 621

My son killed this bull the other day in 621... His first elk after 8 years of hunting! He'd killed a couple of cows with his rifle, but this is his first archery elk. 45 yard shot. It was with a couple of raghorns, but no cows. I got him started when he was just a little guy.. When he was about 5 years old he started tagging along with me in the Breaks.. We'd camp out and sleep in the back of my pickup under the stars. We'd throw in a fishing pole and fish during the day, bring along a dog and shoot a bird or two as well.. Fun times. I'm too old to tackle those hills any more... my knees are shot. I still shoot my bow in the back yard and mess around with deer, but my elk hunting days are history so it's nice hearing the stories and seeing my son enjoy bowhunting like I have!

Very cool. Good for him. I'm sure he enjoys telling you all about the hunt. I bet he is very appreciative of you introducing him to hunting.
