This is the third death this season in that range. Having seen so many of these tragedies, I feel like everyone needs to know how to deal with outdoor emergencies. To make this education more accessible, we put together an affordable, virtual Wilderness First Aid course specifically for Colorado & the western U.S. We’ll be teaching it to live this Tuesday night over Zoom, 5-7 pm Mountain Time, and it’s also recorded. Topics include: Basic life support & patient assessment Packing your med kit & improvising care with your hiking gear Wildlife attacks, bites, stings & anaphylaxis Stabilizing fractures, wounds & bleeding Altitude sickness, shock, cold, frostbite, and hypothermia Lightning, heavy rain, floods & trench foot Heat stroke, dehydration & finding clean water Canyoneering, wayfinding & rescue signaling in the mountains The $ 35-course covers: 4 hours of live Zoom or self-paced classes Interactive survival scenarios Hands-on skills practice and self-tests 50+ wilderness & survival medicine podcasts WFA Certification Exam It qualifies for the 3-year WFA certification recognized by the National Park Service, US Forest Service, the Natl Assn of Search & Rescue & others. We put a lot of time and energy into this, so I hope a lot of you can benefit! All ages are welcome. https://survivalmedonline.org/courses/wilderness-first-aid-colorado/
