First day of bowseason, any kills today???
Seen 5 does and 2 fawns, but the fawns were without spots... Had they still had spots, would have launched an arrow at one...8^) Spotted hide back quiver would be cool and venison veal would be tasty...8^)

Shot a doe first day. 20 yard shot and dropped in 10 yards. 25 yard drag and drove an SUV right to it. Went to the processor right away and had everything done in an hour. Never happened this easy before and don’t expect it happening this easy again.

There was a flock of hens and a flock of 5 Toms in the area. At first light yesterday the flock of hens answered my calls. 45 minutes later they came in and had a Tom with them. It is nice to get lucky.

Since there doesn't seem to be many deer on this meat pole and I have nothing to contribute myself, I'll post a couple pics of deer my youngest son's friends just recently tagged.

I shot this guy yesterday, 11/14. He ran down a steep slope and somehow broke or dislocated his jaw. Two of us tried to force it back into place without luck.

Not sure who notices but Goyt kills some huge bucks. He also is one heck of an elk hunter! Great job again Cliff!

As we look into the upcoming season I thought this would be a good place to add this - not sure how I missed posting this up with Cliff's buck from last season. This is after a couple hours and the tracking job finding that really great buck.
Good luck this year fellas!

Bob, what would be great to have a video of is the retrieval. The video probably does not adequately show how steep that old strip pit really is. Bob drove his ATV with a trailer down the slope right to the buck. To get out I went ahead with the winch cable and secured it to a tree. Bob would winch and drive up the slope as far as he could and lock the breaks and I would move the cable up the slope to another tree. I think that I also had to chuck the tires. At a lot of the places on the slope it was not possible to discount the winch cable because the ATV and cart would have rolled. We had to pick the spots ahead of time. We could not have dragged the buck out of there. It would have been one step forward and two steps or more back.
Bob, Thanks for the help!

The opportunity to participate in that brute's recovery was epic- You're welcome my friend.
Only pic of getting it out - we were beat by that time!
