You greater Philly and Pittsburgh area hunters can still bow hunt up through rifle season (right?). Let us know if you have any luck. I will be bear hunting. Good luck.

Man, I can not wait to hit the woods. This whole working thing has gotten in the way of my archery season. I will be out Sat and Sunday! About darn time this weather turned to what November is supposed to look like!

Have a good weekend Junior. Its only 20 degrees here and I am waiting for it to get light out before I pick up some heavy artillery and head for a blind to see if the locals push a bear out in front me.

With the number of anterless licenses issued in 2A, I can’t see why we’re not in the Special Reg. area, also.

I heard Perry and Dan were having a good time in the woods today. I saw 3 different small bucks chasing today.

Still 0 chasing going on yet. Seen a lot of does in multiple groups and not a buck around.

Dan Smoker and I were hunting with one of the Jr. hunters he has been mentoring on Saturday morning. He was covered up in does most of the morning and saw a buck chasing one. Dan had the hunt of the year as he was watching a MONSTER tending/chasing a doe for over 2 hrs! At one point it bedded 90y below him face to face with a doe. Later the doe got up and lured him within 55y, but he never got any closer. I didn’t see a tail, but I was on the edge of my seat following the commentary of Chris and Dan! ;-)
Dan said the big boy was still harassing the doe when he had to climb down at noon.(he had family obligations)

This pic doesn’t do it justice............but gives you an idea of the size. You could see it much better on the video clips Dan was sending us!

I was out this past weekend. Man it was brutal with the wind. Saw 5 does no bucks. I did see a monster locked down with a doe in a ditch on the side of the road when I was out and about.

Well, this weekend it was better temp wise, but the winds stayed steady and strong. Both nights seen deer and the wind had them nervous and jumpy. I watched group after group funnel into a neighboring property and eventually onto ours. We had the wind both days, a west or NW is ideal, and we stuck it out. Between the 2 of us, we saw more than 30. And not a buck to be seen. 5C and 5D we struck out, the only thing I can offer up is the scrapes that were leaved over have opened and my cameras were getting some okay pic's. But out of the 5 of us, the one thing remains true. Hours on stand in both WMU's we have not seen the rut yet. Stopped by my butcher in Parkerford tonight and his total went up a bunch, but the majority of his influx was doe. My buddies in Perkiomenville, who has spots near Gratersford, say the same thing, nada to the rut. So this week will find me hunting 5C on thanksgiving again, (can I go 3 years in a row?) Friday if the rain holds off, 5D. Saturday and Sunday will be a tossup depending on the wind and this whole "orange thing" for archers is nonsense and I am not digging it! But all in all I hope this west wind holds on, and we can get some chasing going on! Good luck boys.

I think the last week in October is the week. Two years in a row despite temps being the 70s

Really wish archery would run right up until firearms season starts statewide.

2B here.
Typing this from work and hoping to duck out early and hit the woods this afternoon. Also hoping to hunt tomorrow for a little depending on turkey festivities. Planning on all day Friday.
Last chance for romance before the rifle opener on Saturday.
Good luck to anyone still able to get out there and stay safe!
