Hello, I plead guilty for not posting anything earlier. Like many of you, I am stretched thin during hunting season and have little time to post and as this probably won't benefit anyone until at least application time, I figured it could wait. I just got off my last hunt of the year (I think) which was a Desert Sheep hunt in AZ so I have a few minutes to spare. I still have lot's on the plate, but wanted to say that I had an awesome (but short) hunt in Unit 76. In short, I will say there are (from my experience) plenty of Moose in unit 76. I arrived and scouted for one day (details will be posted later) and had a bull on the ground the following day, mid morning. I did not even get to see most of the areas people had told me because I was only interested in harvesting a nice representation of the species and I wanted to do it with my bow. I promise, once I get done dealing with some issues (ill dad, sorry) I will get you the details and make myself available to anyone who is interested in Unit 76 moose. In short, I had an awesome time, in beautiful country. The moose were up high (mine was almost to tree line 11,800 ft,) and were plentiful and rutting. From this experience, I will say, it is an easy hunt if you can get around and are in decent shape. The real work begins when the animal is on the ground. I had several people who contributed to my experience, including (but not limited to) the awesome game warden who works in the area and others who work in fishing shops in Creede. I killed a bull that has narrow paddles but is a cool bull to me. I will attempt to post a photo or two now and I also have video of him. I must add that on the way down the mountain on day 2 of packing, we saw a really nice bull and he got within 6 yards of me. He was in a pond next to the road, and will be there for next year if someone didn't harvest him. I appreciate your patience with me, as other things are more important right now!

Nothing wrong with that archery bull. Nicely done. My best, Paul

Thanks for the nice comments. For those of you who have never been in the Creede Colorado area, I will say the terrain is not extreme. The elevation is more of a challenge on this Moose hunt because they are way up high, not as I expected. I will also say the rivers are amazing and the scenery is outstanding! The brown trout were not interested in our flies (spawning season), but the small, native Brookies were! I would also like to say the folks in that town (from my experience) were super friendly and glad to assist in any way possible. We stayed in a beautiful AirBnB just above town and were very comfortable. I will say the town does lack some types of dining options and they close early, but that would be the only downside of Creede. I will follow up with more details. Happy Holidays to all!

I now know we're not to apply next year because everyone will be applying to unit 76 after reading this thread.

There aren't any secret moose units. The odds suck in all of them
