Not sure, but pretty sure it's not an antlered critter. My initial reaction was some sort of woodpecker, but it's looking a little ragged. Hard to tell.

It appears that a large animal was biting tearing the wood downward, the splinters on l & r are pointed downward in 3 locations. So i would 1st guess Moose cause ht of top bite or big Bear. I thought Porkys only ate the outer bark.
