Nice. And very true! I am on the 5th phrase, heading out in about 15 minutes.

Someone sent me a Private message and I asked if he minded I take an excerpt and post it. He said he didn't care:

My first hunt consisted of a borrowed recurve bow , and three new arrows , very little compared to what people are believing they need to hunt a deer now.

No, he didn't kill a deer that day but learned how to over time. He has taken many a whitetail and pronghorn since then and with nothing more than a bow.

Very nice poem. It's not what's in a hunters hand, it's what is in a hunters heart.

I agree with the message of the poem, and I agree with what Groundhunter said. In a way it all comes down to one's behavior. Perhaps the ancient caveat of "actions speak louder than words" is a truth we all should hear and heed.
