im new to washington state and would like to now what units are great for elk hunting i was thinking of the tranaway unit in eastern washington or the 500s units

Try the unit to the east. I think it's called Idaho. lol

Other than guided Roosy hunts, you never hear about WA being listed in the conversation with other elk states. It's unfortunate because the state's size and elk population have a lot of potential, but the management practices and the ridiculous rule of having to buy a general tag before you can enter the elk draw (even for NRs) really takes it off the counter.

WA's sheep/moose/goat app fees make MT's new application/BP fees look like chump change.

And you can no longer apply online for their raffles.

WA is missing out on a lot of NR money.

No, they're not. They have enough demand from resident hunters and a more limited amount of resource than you think.

Guys are waiting 5-15 years for a branched antler elk permit right now. Why would they want more competition and a longer wait?

If you want raffle tickets, mail me a check and I'll mail you tickets.
