I'm not sure how accurate this is, but a friend of mine was checking on his applications for Mountain goat and Elk in the CO draw for this year. What he found was that his points for these animals did not show up in his inquiries. He did some further checking, and found out that CO Game Commission made some changes to the draw system, and the "Back Door" method for finding out early if you drew a tag this year, has been eliminated. Maybe this has been discussed , but I could not find anything on it.

Elk points should still show. Mine do. Sheep and goat any day now if the BD still exists.

I believe that the Division modified the Preference Point section on the website to allow people to see the changes in their points prior to official posting of license results as a buffer to their staff for all of those of us who hounded their help lines calling in- as only the staff at the Main Office could look up the status of points.
So- the points are updated a few days earlier now, and this eliminates some of the games played in years past for those trying to figure out early what is happening in their game of drawing licenses...
Usually they official results are posted around the dates on the website.
Have some patience, they will get it done, and we will all know in time.
Last year's deer draw debacle may have caused them to adjust the process a bit. It was a real mess that caused a lot of headaches.

I feel like I got something in my "backdoor" with all the points and no tags so far.....
I feel like Jaquomo. Last year I was 0 for 4 in draw tags & so far this year 0 for 1 (sheep). Not sure I can take much more of this type of "Back Door".
Stupid question but how do you check backdoor? My deer pnts are gone when I check my PP's. Is this what you mean?
BC, you go in as if you were to buy a habitat stamp. It show all the apps on file, with a "400" number. If you drew, it shows something like "Resident Either sex elk 531", with a 500 number.
PPs disappearing only means the.draw is in progress. So far, only sheep, goat, and bear are showing the 500 code. Deer should be up any day.

Does anyone know, when does CO mail out the tags? I have an OTC ordered.

^^ You already have a habitat stamp. Your 400 codes show that you have an app in for deer and elk. They will turn to 500 codes if you draw a tag. That is the Co backdoor.
Like others have said the elk draw is going on. I checked my points and they are gone. I think last week deer were. It won't be much longer and some 500 codes will be popping up for deer then elk will follow.

Guys checking the Habitat and Other licenses will only display tags if one is in your box, not PP only apps.
Elk should be coming in the next day or two...
Some Deer is updated, but I suspect they are still updating.
I got a 590 for deer as well. I'm pretty sure it has to be my 2nd or 3rd choice because I likely had no chance drawing my first choice option.
Question? On my elk app I chose "send me an otc tag if unsuccessful". If I did not draw my limited entry elk tag, will the otc tag show on the backdoor as a 500 #?
LUNG$HOT - It should. A 500 code just means you have a license on file, I don't think it matters whether it's OTC or limited.

So far, every one that has posted with a 500 code has been a Colorado Resident...since I've got nothing showing yet, I'm hoping that they are doing the non-resident draw later.

Since I had an 80% chance of drawing (based on 2014 draw) and still have 400 I'm guessing that it'll be next year.
My Brother and I are expected to draw deer and still are not showing any 500 number. They may still be uploading results or maybe I'm just not ready to give up hope..

I'd like to believe that not all deer is posted but I think your right. Hopefully the elk and pronghorn draws go better or I'm going to have to shoot a lot of rabbits and ducks

The updates come in as a data set, they should all update at the same time.
Looks like the vendor did antelope prior to elk this year. So Bear, Deer, Antelope are updated... Of coure Sheep, Goat, Moose were prior to that.
If you don't have a deer code you did not draw.

I see most have 590 code. What is the difference if you have a 591, which is what I have. Is there a difference?
590 is resident, 591 is non-resident.

I don't think they are fully posted yet on the back door because I had more than the guaranteed points for deer & elk and nothing is showing yet....
#1 Bear- hopefully not an application error. Online application usually eliminates these errors but It's possible. Let us know how it turns out.
#1bear, ones your backdoor show a "400" code for deer application on file? All deer results are updated at the same time, and have been up for several days now. Elk isn't up yet.
Also, there is likely to be point creep in some units due to the new outfitter tag allotment this year.

Jaquomo, yes, both elk & deer show "400" code for application. I was wondering about an error, but I guess I wouldn't have gotten the 400 with an error. I'm just about sick because I was "maybe" overconfident with the draw.....
I was hoping to draw a non res pronghorn tag this year. But I guess someone with more points than me put in for the one nonres tag that was given out for that unit.
So #1Bear know how you feel. Last year that tag took 14 points for nonres. This year I went in to the draw with 16 points. So we need to start a on line support group for us guys that didn't draw.. Ed
I put in for fall turkey tag preference points this morning and it was so tempting to click on the button for applications on file to see if I got a deer tag and didn't do it, waiting for the mailman! If the elk results was up I don't know if I would of been able to withstand the temptation since I was just right there one mouse click away from checking!
I don't think elk is up yet. Ed, I'm with you on starting the support group. I have been waiting 9 years for this tag and because of how other seasons, vacations, etc. go I won't be able to put in for it again for 4 more years.....makes me physically ill....
